America’s Having a Slumber Party — and Everyone’s Invited

My mom says it’s okay if your mom says it’s okay!

The FIFA World Cup has come to North America, and millions of fans from all over the world have flocked to the U.S. in what’s been coined the “Great American Sleepover.”

Our feeds have been filled with stories of fans experiencing American culture – some heartwarming, some absurd (we’re looking at you, Swiss guy who got a Walmart tattoo).

Here in Atlanta, we’re lucky to be a host city. Our Fan Fest is one of the largest and “most lit” (according to us, I think). We’re having a blast showing our new friends the beauty of 1 a.m. Waffle House visits and teaching people “y’all.” And we’re supporting our clients in exciting World Cup activations. Centennial Yards is at the center of the action in downtown Atlanta, hosting watch parties and Fan Fest activations at Centennial Olympic Park. The College Football Hall of Fame opened a limited-time exhibit called Football: One Name, Two Games.

And while it’s been awesome to see brands we love involved in all the World Cup excitement, it’s been something else to see how tourists from around the world are celebrating.

By now, you’re probably familiar with Freddy, the German tourist-turned-cultural icon who’s stolen the hearts (and feeds) of World Cup fans everywhere. He started his US tour here in Atlanta, and while we hated to see him go, we’ve loved watching him experience the best our country has to offer.

We saw Japanese fans discover Texan culture. And watched how free chips and salsa blew their minds.

And they were exciteddddd!!!

You don’t need to speak the language to understand the hype! 🇯🇵⚽ The excitement is universal outside Dallas Stadium today. While the rain clouds build overhead, this traveling Japanese supporter perfectly captured the entire mood of the Metroplex right now: "I cannot speak English but I'm excited!!!!"

We were also reminded that it’s the little things.

People in Kansas gave Algerians a warm welcome. I’m not crying, I have something in my eye…

@meninblazers LAWRENCE, KANSAS’ LOVE FOR ALGERIA IS ONE OF THE WORLD CUP’S BEST STORIES ❤️ Since their arrival on Sunday night, Algeria have captured the heart of Lawrence and surrounding areas, and it’s everything we love about this beautiful game 🥹 🎥 @lelienofficiel, @elheddaftv.official , @algatedz @nabilkhazini #worldcup #algeria #kansas ♬ original sound - Men in Blazers

Oh, and the Tartan army nearly drank Boston dry….BOSTON.

The 2026 World Cup has us Americans appreciating all of the things we take for granted. The dreaded supermarket visit most of us hate is an experience our friends from around the world eagerly seek out. Apparently, the European mind can't comprehend Costco!

Between staying up late to watch the games and trying all kinds of junk food, this has been the best sleepover, like, ever. But nothing has been more fun than sharing our American culture with new people. We at Nebo have loved supporting and partaking in the ATL festivities. And we've really loved all of the great content from this summer. But these moments are more than just funny social videos – they truly represent the values that make us special and that make the USA, the USA.

As Americans, we know that most of us are good people with good hearts. But let’s just say our brand needs some work… And we’ve jumped on this opportunity to show the world who we really are.

When people think of the USA, we want them to think of our hospitality. Our celebration of diversity and desire to connect with people of different cultures and backgrounds. Our love for friendly competition. Oh, and for partying. I mean, we just invited about 10 million of our new best friends to our birthday party this Saturday.

Our 250th is a big deal. And I can’t think of a better way to celebrate it than by hosting this Great American Sleepover. We’re the world’s melting pot, and watching millions of people from across the globe come together to share beautiful memories in our country has brought a surge of patriotism in me.

It’s hard to be as excited as Freddy these days. But this year, I think we should all try to channel his energy to make it the best party possible. (P.S. Freddy, if this blog finds you, just know you’re welcome to come by our office for some true American cuisine any time you like.)

And to the new friends who will soon be leaving our city, remember that Waffle House Atlanta is just a plane ride away!
