There are three types of people in the world: those who hate Excel, those who really hate Excel and those who realize you can run the world if you’re an Excel master.
I consider myself to be in the last category. However, sometimes Excel is my worst enemy. As a digital marketer, I’ve had plenty of those, “Why me?!?” moments following hours of work climaxing in one epic crash. Thousands of ads replaced with a single, gut-wrenching error message. Somehow, Autosave is always conveniently disabled.
Most of the time though, Excel is my best friend. My BFF, even. Writing a macro that saves hours or days of work can be one of the most satisfying feelings in the entire world. Plus, it frees up your time to focus on the important stuff, like strategy and what you’re going to have for dinner later that night.
We may have a tumultuous relationship, but Excel really is a marketer’s best friend. It’s a powerful tool that can help make your life easier and free up valuable mindshare for more strategic thinking.
